Nvidia card users importanthdmi users
People i just discovered why i couldnt get true blacks on my cintiqs, or other monitors, blaming led technology. But envidia was the problem at fault.
Color value are from 0 to 255, i mean from black to white, thats good for photoedition, but real bad for games.
Nvidia cards were built for been in video games, so they dont use those values, they use from 16- 235, so you are skipping the most crucial colors for coloring, but for editing it will SUCK.
So i had found a great web page, with a little software for pc users, that you run it and restart and you get solid blacks, this had made my callibration so easy, it was the graphic card the problem.
Just download the program, unzip it, execute it, and choose from 1 to 255 values, restart and its done.

If you dont like it you can revert it by clicking again the other option.
Corel painter works incredible with those values. You notice this more if you have your monitor connected in hdmi mode.

Self Censorship and Feeling Judged.Im sharing this around because its something I feel extremely strong about. I wont sit idly by and let good artists be strongarmed into feeling jugded, second guessing and self censoring (removing from portfolio) their own work.
If you feel that way, my message to you is this:
Fellow artists,
I received some really troubling PM's today. Please don't feel you need to self-censor your work if you enjoy making pinups / sexy girls. Don't remove it from your folios, and never, ever, second guess what you enjoy spending your free time making. Especially don't feel judged because you appear to not be a champion of a cause of any kind. Regardless of how prominant of an artist you are, or where you work in our industry, your free time, is YOURS. Feel free to express who you are, NOT who other people think you should be.

Small steps: Preventing Art Theft on dA

Permission Issues and Art theft: It's sadly a common thing now.
It is a huge problem on deviantART/ internetz.

Art theft is unacceptable. Think about how long people spend on their works. And how much of themselves go into it. Now someone else has spent 0 seconds and claimed it as theirs. NO.

You must credit resources. That includes OCs, stocks, brushes, textures, snippets of code(no, changing the colors of a journal skin does not mean you made it) , tutorials(sometimes).
Written credits. Google images is not good enough.

Usually between 1 - 5 NEW students, per day come to me for random pieces of advice. Some from here @ PC , some from Deviant Art - Mostly from Deviant art.
It's always the same questions maybe worded slightly differently and I do my best to answer every single time, every single message. Sometimes I get behind and have to catch up at the end of the week but I do my best.
As well as those, I did 2 10+ question interviews last week, on my time, for students who were still in school. For school essays, papers, projects etc that contain the same questions they always do.

On Art Schools + Art Style: A response to EndlingEndling posted this [click here] answer to a questioned by one of his followers on Tumblr.
It pertains to how his art school and supporters treated/reacted to his particular art style in an academic and professional setting. Give that a read first then come back here.
I posted a response to it that I also wanted to share on my DeviantART. (If you're getting tired of me ranting about my experience at school, sorry, but this stuff means a LOT to me. I want to try to inform other people of what my time was like there so that if YOU go, you're all the wiser.) Response was as follows:
This is partially one of my problems with art schools at this point in time. They're ridiculously expensive, and because of the rapid change in art/media industry and culture, fall into generally one of these two categories:
1) They typically have instructors who are remnants of doing their bes

Canvas sizes - inches and dpi and pixelsThis is a sort of guide on canvas sizes, inches, dpi and pixel x pixels.
when it came to canvas sizes, I always kind of assumed that inches belonged with dpi and pixels were just pixels and that everyone knew that; but i read a whole bunch of comments on a tumblr blog where someone asked about canvas sizes, and SO MANY people were replying with things such as, "4000x4000 px at 300 dpi" or "2000x2000 px at 200dpi".
and I guess not everyone quite understands what dpi's really used for xD.
DPI = Dots per Inch. It means how many dots will be printed per inch.
DPI is actually used for printing purposes. It shows the printer how much pixels to print per inch, literally. A common printer (at home or even at a lot of printing stores) at best prints at 150dpi most of the time actually; there are some super duper great printers that can print REALLY fine that can go up to ...apparently a lot more xD; #dpi, so that's why everyone usually suggests saving your project at 300dpi; most printers are f

First off I want to thank all of y'all for taking an interest in helping me bring life to this book cover. I've been writing professionally for several years now, but this is my first venture into authorship, and cover art has been my biggest stress factor. I'm sure many, if not all of you, know the feeling... when you invest so much time into creating a piece of art and you want it to be the way you envisioned it, or at least somewhere close to it. When I saw the portfolio for the illustrators the printing house offered, I knew it wasn't the right fit. Yeah, it was pretty helpful. :3 And now that I'm trying MyPaint, I'm loving how organic and smooth the brush tool are! The delayed ink brush especially is really smooth and doesn't need tons of tweaking, even for a mouse user like me. XD The whole UI is great. ^^

Designed exactly for pixel artist and has lots of specific features. For example, transparency and shading tools use colors order in palette instead of color coordinates. Since last year it has pixel animation features too. Everything in my gallery was done using this editor (To be honest, i use only draw, line, fill and custom brush tools)
And it's really multiplatform.
